What am I about?
This website is not about selling you products, programs or paid subscriptions. It is to help educate and increase awareness that the biggest medical causes of disability and death in the world can be prevented but we are often too late by the time we meet patients as they have their heart attack or stroke.
My mission
Educate all doctors and people in the community of the full list of known risk factors and identify and prevent plaque growth in a precision method with more aggressive therapy in those with higher cumulative risk factors before it is too far advanced.
Update the National Cardiovascular risk assessment to a more comprehensive tool that does not let people who people who may feel fine slip through the cracks when they may have more aggressive plaque build up.
Our vision
We work as a collaborative team across all health fields to help end bypasses and elective stenting. We will dramatically reduce the number of strokes and heart attacks and the rate of vascular dementia. Reduce long term pill burden that occurs from advanced arterial plaque build up.
Who am I?
I am an Australian Cardiologist trained in complex cardiac imaging including echocardiography, cardiac CT and cardiac MRI post multi-year imaging fellowship at the Royal Melbourne Hospital with a special interest in complex and congenital cardiac disease.
During my years in cardiac practice and utilising ever increasing amounts of coronary/heart imaging in patients for a cardiovascular risk assessment it is abundantly clear the current Australian (PREVENT) risk calculator does not accurately identify patients' rate of plaque growth and I commonly meet patients needing bypass surgery who are deemed low risk and others whose arteries are around 20 years ahead of their biological age despite being, fit active and well without any clues they are headed towards advanced disease.
Given this I have spent many years reading research into more contemporary and comprehensive risk factors that can increase risk by more than 7 times but are not part of the current risk factor calculators and patients are falling through the cracks.
I now spend most of my research time in better ways to assess coronary plaque to more accurately assess heart age and risk of cardiac events and then devise and update a new more more modern cardiovascular risk assessment tool to be used on its own or in conjunction with direct heart imaging to guide precision and tailored cardiovascular risk management plans for patients.
